Dow trims losses in midday trading; tech stocks lift S&P 500

U.S. stocks were mostly higher in midday trading on Tuesday. The Dow Jones Industrial was giving back some of its early losses, while Big tech stocks were buoying the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq Composite.
