Domestic mutual funds stay bullish on equities in May

Synopsis

The gross buying by mutual funds in May was at a record Rs 2.5 lakh crore, taking the gross buy-to-sale ratio to 1.23 compared with the long-term average of 1.07.

The local funds escalated equity wagers at an unprecedented pace in May 2024, prior to the declaration of general election results on June 04. According to data from SEBI, domestic funds invested a record Rs 48,099 crore in equities during the month. It was nearly four times the average monthly investment over the last two years.
