THE Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) on Wednesday said some 224 stock-keeping units (SKUs) of basic necessities and prime commodities (BNPCs) have complied with their suggested retail prices during a monitoring visit to the Guadalupe Market in Makati.
SKUs are unique, alphanumeric codes assigned to a product by a business to internally track inventory.
The DTI visit to the Guadalupe Market with Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr. also monitored the prices of rice, meat, fish, fruits and vegetables in 10 stalls.
The monitoring is in line with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive to ensure stable prices of basic items until the yearend.
DTI also conducted price-and-supply monitoring in Dangwa and Santa Cruz on Oct. 24 to ensure that flowers, including candles and water bottles, are fairly priced and adequately supplied for the coming Undas (All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day) on Nov. 1 and 2.
Since the start of October, DTI has inspected 19 flower stores to verify price compliance and encourage flower vendors to maintain reasonably priced products.

Rest assured that the DTI will continue to diligently monitor the markets to keep prices affordable while also ensuring that businesses remain sustainable and profitable — so that it will be a win-win for all,” Trade Secretary Christina Roque said.
