How are stock-index futures trading:
S&P 500 futures are down 0.2%.
Dow Jones Industrial Average futures are dipping 0.1%.
Nasdaq 100 futures are slipping 0.2%.
On Monday, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 304 points, or 0.69%, to 44,293, the S&P 500 increased 6 points, or 0.1%, to 6,001, and the Nasdaq Composite gained 12 points, or 0.06%, to 19,299.
Futures indicate the S&P 500 may dip back below the 6,000 level at the opening bell as the post-election rally takes a breather.
The broad stock-market barometer is up 5.05% over the past five days as investors welcomed the re-election of Donald Trump, hoping his tax-cutting and deregulation policies may boost economic activity.
Stocks of companies deemed likely to benefit from the incoming administration, such as Tesla, bitcoin and the dollar have been on a tear, though Tuesday sees signs of fatigue in some of those plays.
The Treasury market is also damping sentiment in stocks somewhat, with yields again moving higher on concerns Trump’s tariff plans may stoke inflation.
