Suppliers, pollies reject supermarket bid to shift blame

The cost of producing groceries has soared due to higher prices for energy and commodities such as sugar but politicians from both major parties have rejected attempts by Coles and Woolworths to argue major suppliers are contributing to consumer pressure at the checkout.

The lobby group for the major suppliers has defended price rises, pointing to an escalation in production costs.  Bethany Rae
