Is the Stock Market Open on Presidents Day?

Whether you pay attention to the NYSE or Nasdaq, you’ll want to know that—according to the NYSE website—trading will be closed on Monday, Feb. 16 to observe the federal holiday. Likewise, as noted by the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association’s (SIMFA) website, bond markets will be closed on the holiday as well.

When Does Trading Resume on the Stock Market?

While Monday will see all stock markets close, Nasdaq’s website reveals that trading resumes the following day—Tuesday, Feb. 17—at 9:30 a.m. EST and wraps up at 4 p.m.

What Days of the Year Is the Stock Market Closed?

Like many federal organizations and businesses, the stock market is closed for a number of days each year. The days, however, shift slightly from traditionally observed federal holidays. Instead, for the remainder of 2026, the market will be closed for Good Friday, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day (observed on July 3), Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.
